
The Sri Lanka – France Business Council (SLFBC) of The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce recently held its annual Members’ Day, graciously hosted by the newly appointed French Ambassador to Sri Lanka, H.E. Rémi Lambert, at his official residence.
In his remarks, Ambassador Lambert reaffirmed the strong and diverse ties between France and Sri Lanka. He highlighted key areas of ongoing and potential collaboration, including debt restructuring, educational and cultural programmes through Alliance Française, and the growing footprint of French companies in Sri Lanka. The Ambassador also emphasised the importance of tourism, noting that France is currently a top source of tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka.
Underscoring Sri Lanka’s strategic location and economic potential, Ambassador Lambert expressed France’s interest in deepening its engagement across a range of sectors. He noted the importance of marine conservation and sustainable development, and assured that France stands with Sri Lanka in its efforts to rebuild and revitalise its economy.
SLFBC President Andre Fernando welcomed the Ambassador and extended sincere thanks for his hospitality. He also outlined the Council’s key initiatives planned for the coming year, aimed at strengthening economic ties and promoting greater collaboration between the two nations. This includes the organising of a delegation visit by potential French Investors to Sri Lanka with the support of the Indo – French Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The event provided an excellent platform for members to engage in dialogue, network, and reaffirm the shared commitment to enhancing Sri Lanka–France bilateral relations.
