Ceylon Chamber Facilitates Donation of Refurbished Laptops for Students Affected by Cyclone Ditwah

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with HSBC and LTL Holdings, facilitated the donation of 45 refurbished laptops to support university undergraduates whose education was disrupted by Cyclone Ditwah and the severe flooding that followed in November.

Prior to the handover, the laptops were refurbished to ensure their suitability for academic use. The refurbishment process included replacing hard disks and batteries and carrying out necessary repairs so the devices could function reliably for students’ day-to-day learning needs.

The laptops will support university students who lost or damaged their personal devices during the floods, helping them continue their studies without interruption.

The Sasnaka Sansada Foundation will coordinate the distribution of the laptops to the affected undergraduates.

With access to person al IT devices now a basic requirement for educational pursuits, for many students affected by the floods, losing a laptop meant losing a vital link to their studies. By helping replace lost devices, the Ceylon Chamber, together with HSBC and LTL Holdings, aims to support students working to get their education back on track after the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah.
