SME development being one of the major thrust areas of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, the Centre for SMEs aim to offer a comprehensive range of business development services under a recognized center of excellence. The Centre for SME`s will play the one stop shop for all SME`s. Based on the emerging challenges of the SME sector, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) has identified the unique intervention point as the SMEs, which are in the growth stage and those are willing to transform and elevate to the next level. Thus, the purpose of the Centre for SMEs is to assist and guide SMEs to be Geared, Skilled and Informed to face the demands and trends of the future business world. The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) is working closely with the Government to help resolve issues faced by the businesses through a consultative process, particularly SMEs and continue to offer business development services and other assistance required for business recovery.

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in close collaboration with ITC, embarked on an initiative to provide on-the-job-coaching services to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in early 2018, within the framework of the EU-funded EU-Sri Lanka Trade-Related Assistance project.

The objective of this on-site coaching initiative is to assist SMEs/entrepreneurs to review their internal processes with a view to enhance their ability to reduce their transaction costs and to improve their compliance with administrative requirements which will enhance their export competitiveness in the international market.

After successful completion on the project, CCC is entrusted to continue export management coaching through a hybrid model comprising of both online and physical sessions.

Export Management Coaching will be conducted on five specific areas of export management covered in the Export Management Coaching (EMC) Manual, which will include;

  • Packaging & Labelling
  • Mandatory Certifications, Registrations & Buyer Standards
  • Customs & Duties
  • International Shipping by Sea & Air Freight
  • Export Planning & Pro Forma Invoice
