We believe that the elections were conducted in a free and fair manner, allowing the people to peacefully exercise their franchise. We take this opportunity to extend our gratitude to the Commissioner of Elections, the Police Chief and the Officials of the respective institutions for creating this environment. Equally, we also wish to extend our appreciation to the President and the Political Party Leaders, who extended their support towards this initiative.
We sincerely hope that the winners as well as losers will accept the final outcome of this election, in a peaceful manner, without disturbing the normalcy and day to day life of the people, demonstrating our respect towards democratic ideals.
As the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce had been reiterating in the past, the country is faced with many a challenges; such as ensuring harmony and national integration, strengthening democratic institutions and rule of law and governance and adopting inclusive development strategies. We believe that being elected to govern the nation, the most critical responsibility of the new government is to work together with all the concerned stakeholders and develop prudent strategies and plans to overcome the critical challenges that the nation is faced with.
