SWITCH-Asia Programme on Enhancing the Environmental Performance of the Key Export Sectors (EEPEx) Project

The above project which is funded by the European Union, implemented by the Industrial technology Institute and is partnered by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce as the industry coordinator.

The baseline survey stage has been completed and 224 companies have been selected for further analysis. From this selection 84 companies will undergo a exhaustive analysis.  The nine companies selected from the Ceramic Sector has been completed and preparation of the reports are in progress. The tourism/hotels sector which was initially included in the Project proposal has been partly handed over to the Greening of Hotels Project under the same SWITCH-Asia Programme which is spearheaded by CCC. Few more detailed surveys of companies in the support services and the coconut product sector now has been completed. 24 companies so far have joined the Project with the payment of the participation fee.

The program once completed by end next year will give the relevant companies a definite edge in marketing in view of the sustainable initiatives introduced in relation to the optimum use of energy, water, waste and materials.
